2006 model 535B Dual Arch Skidder in North Carolina with Winch, Enclosed Cab with heat and air, Continuous Rotation Grapple, 30.5 / 32 Tires with ISFD Rims, Heavy Duty CAT Axles, with approximately 6000 hrs.

We took this video working in North Carolina.  This skidder is the workhorse on this crew that was moving a good bit of logs.  Working alongside it was another CAT skidder (525B) and a CAT Feller Buncher, a Prentice and a Timberjack Loader.  These machines were really getting it done, moving a load of logs every 20 minutes or so.  With two loaders working side by side and two skidders bringing the wood to the landing, the job was going pretty smooth.  Enjoy.

The fellow who killed this monster just might have quit to find a less exciting career.  This snake was measured at 9ft 1 inch long and over seventy pounds.  This photo comes courtesy of a good friend in Eastern Virginia.  The snake was killed on a job in Chowan, North Carolina.  This is just another reason why you don’t want to mess with loggers.  Anyone tough enough to deal with critters like this on a daily basis is somebody I want to be on friendly terms with.  My son who loves all things dinosaur and reptile, reminded me that this snake is possibly the largest rattler ever recorded in the southeastern US.  He has a book on reptiles and has been quizzing me about all the species of snakes.  If you too would like a fun-filled and adventurous career and you like snakes just call me.  Have I got a job for you!
